Editor — parts, effects & paint

The editor is the hand-tuning bench: how the pieces sit, what the artwork looks like, and where the cuts run.

Steps

  1. Pick a tab above the canvas: Arrange for piece positions, joints and effects, Paint for touching up the parts sheet, Cuts for re-marking a part.
  2. In Arrange, the Pieces list selects a part and changes its position, z-order or visibility; Effects browses the effect library and what is applied; Animations lists the clips.
  3. Joints: press Joints above the Pieces list to see every piece's joints on the canvas — a pink diamond where a piece hinges on its parent, yellow dots where a bending piece bends. Select a piece and set its joints row to bends through joints to make it bend; the dots are read off the piece's own artwork (the attaching end at the seam, the elbow at the bend, the wrist before the hand). Drag any dot that sits wrong, or press re-place to read them again.
  4. In Paint, draw, erase, clone or warp the parts sheet — useful when a cut left a rough edge or a hidden area was filled badly.
  5. In Cuts, re-outline a part that came out wrong; the same Magic Snippet, Brush and Add region tools from cut review are here.
  6. Play a clip in Preview and drop the speed while you judge an edit — or type the change to the Assistant instead of doing it by hand.
  7. Press Save & update to re-bake the skeleton with your edits. Undo / Redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) take back what you have not saved yet.

Tips

  • Undo only reaches over unsaved edits in the tool you are in — anything already saved comes back from History instead.
  • Collapse the left sidebar for a wider canvas when you are painting or cutting in detail.
  • A dot you drag is yours for good — no later re-cut moves it. Dots you never touched follow the artwork whenever the piece is re-cut.
